To whom it may concern,
My name is Joshua Daniel and I am running for the Organizing officer position of our Sacramento DSA chapter. I am currently working at my family company helping operations where needed and am also a student at Sacramento State. I am very motivated to seize this moment of political awareness that has captured our neighbors. Making change that truly meets the needs of the people, is sustainable, and is protective of our collective humanity in a world where it's always at risk of being cast aside in the name of expansion and profit.
I was born in Los Angeles to an immigrant father and my mother who was born in the U.S. to her Immigrant parents. My Grandfather worked hard to set a strong foundation for us and made a successful family business. The 2024 presidential election made me see the lack of competence and political will in the Democratic party. After the total defeat of what is supposed to be a xxxxxx against oppression, I found people in Sacramento who want to organize and be that xxxxxx for themselves. I joined a BDS working group and that working group led me to be introduced to the BCLI Training by Organize Sacramento. Talking to our members about their needs, their stories, and their fights is crucial to making them feel confident in fighting for a socialist future. In my work with individuals and organizations, I aim to prioritize the individual’s own personal understanding of their conditions and capabilities. I believe the personal journey is inexorably intertwined with the ability to analyze the powers and systems that dominate our lives. I have a lot of energy, ambition, and determination to form a widespread coalition across the nation that can fight the battles that need to be fought. I’m tired of being told that “we can’t do anything about what the government does”. I want to give whatever I can to bring about a better world for not just my neighbors but all people around the world that are harmed by the callous systems who have seized our collective humanity.
I hope through my actions as an elected Organizing Officer I can bring in and prepare new members and old, to tackle the issues that face each of our communities. There is a feeling of helplessness pervading my neck of the woods. I feel my neighbors yearn for better conditions but can’t communicate how that could come about. They hunker down, say they need to just work harder for a bigger paycheck, then all will be fine. Accepting assistance is seen as an indication of personal failure. I want to bring power in organizing areas that hold some of the most beautiful and kind souls who know what hard work is. I want to be a part of empowering those who have been abused then abandoned by a profit seeking system that gets more excited at public-private partnerships than community welfare. I want to assist in bringing about a new era for Americans, an era that is defined by humanity, art, ecology, and meaningful lives.
We are in dire need of more communities that can keep each other safe.
Thank you for your consideration,
Joshua Daniel
