During Trump's first-term, we organized and helped stop his repeated efforts to hold a military parade.

One time, we requested and were awarded a permit to host a 5-K road race on the parade route. One K for each of his deferments.

Now Trump is trying again - he wants a parade on his birthday that, according to the Associated Press, would include "more than 6,600 soldiers, at least 150 vehicles, 50 helicopters, seven bands and possibly a couple thousand civilians."

This parade would be far from the national celebration that Trump claims, it would be an international embarrassment. His wishes for this event are not about celebrating the military, they are about his fragile self-image needing a public display of the military honoring him.

And he's doing it at a time his administration is looking at cutting veterans health care and housing cuts to fund tax cuts for the rich.

No.

If this parade is going to be stopped, it'll be the voices of veterans who make it possible. But we can't do it alone.

Sign VoteVets petition: Tell Congress the American people believe a military parade would be a huge mistake, and that the military is not there to be used and abused to prop up the president's fragile self-image.

This is a president who has continually shown himself to have authoritarian tendencies and this is just another worrying example.

Thanks for making your voice heard.
