Dear Supporter,

During the month of May, the National Committee is celebrating Older Americans Month by raising awareness about the incredible contributions of seniors to our society and fiercely advocating for their rights and benefits on Capitol Hill.

Even as millions of older Americans continue to face challenges to meeting their basic health care and financial security needs in retirement, the Trump Administration, DOGE and billionaire Elon Musk are aggressively pursuing a dangerous agenda to dramatically scale back their earned benefits.

That’s why during Older Americans Month, the National Committee is launching a state-by-state petition drive to President Trump urging him to uphold his promise to veto any bill that comes across his desk that cuts Social Security, Medicare or Medicaid. Please represent your state by adding your name to our Emergency Petition to President Trump today! ( [link removed] )

As you know, the assault on seniors’ earned benefits is taking place on several fronts:

The Social Security Administration’s (SSA) workforce is being slashed by at least 7,000 jobs at a time when staffing is already at a 50-year low.

Social Security beneficiaries have complained that it’s even harder to obtain assistance on SSA’s telephone line, on the website or at the shrinking number of SSA offices. And the agency’s website has crashed several times in the past month, preventing beneficiaries from accessing their accounts.

The Trump Administration’s policies favor Medicare Advantage (MA) plans over traditional Medicare. Yet, a recent report found MA plans, the privatized (taxpayer-funded) alternative to traditional Medicare, were denying thousands of legitimate claims by Medicare beneficiaries and refusing to authorize reasonable medical procedures.

Congress is considering a massive budget bill that could include billions in Medicaid cuts, services that many older Americans rely on to help them cover the cost of long-term care and supportive services.

The attacks on seniors’ benefits are unrelenting. That’s why we need you and millions of other seniors from all 50 states to send a powerful message to the White House that we will not stand by and allow Social Security, Medicare or Medicaid to be sacrificed for policies that disproportionately benefit the very wealthiest among us.

Help the National Committee stop the ongoing assault on retirees by signing our Emergency Petition to Trump today! ( [link removed] )

As one of the largest and most effective advocacy groups in the country fighting to protect the financial security, health and well-being of older Americans, your participation in petition campaigns like this gives us enormous clout in Washington, DC.

So please take a moment to sign our Petition to the President now! ( [link removed] )

Sincerely,

Max Richtman
President & CEO
