Dear John,
We are now 100 days into the new administration, and if mainstream media is to be believed, everything is a disaster. A recent analysis showed that major news outlets like ABC, CBS, and NBC have given Trump 92.2 percent negative coverage.
But there appears to be a wide gulf between the pundits and the public.
According to a recent Gallup poll, 36 percent of Americans have no trust in the mainstream media and 33 percent do not have very much trust in them--with good reason. How have these once respected institutions fallen so low?
In March, executives from National Public Radio (NPR) and the Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) testified before the House DOGE subcommittee of the Oversight and Government Accountability to try and defend their networks' use of taxpayer dollars against allegations of blatant liberal partisanship.
During the hearing, CEOs Katherine Maher (NPR) and Paula Kerger (PBS) came under intense scrutiny and tried, in our opinion--unsuccessfully--to combat evidence of their leftwing bias. This included: NPR's Washington bureau employing 87 Democrats and 0 Republicans, several ideological tweets from the CEOs about abortion, race, and American history, and airing "drag-queen story hour" shows aimed at toddlers.
Fast forwarding to this week, President Trump signed a new executive order to end funding for NPR and PBS.
While mainstream media squandered their credibility through flagrantly biased reporting, we've been honest about our position from day one.
Our news and commentary is expressly published from a biblical worldview, because we understand that the issues we face can only be rightly understood in the context of who and what truth is.
"Sanctify them in the truth; your word is truth" (John 17:17 ESV).
"Jesus said to him, 'I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me...'" (John 14:6 ESV).
John, we must not allow these voices to continue dominating the culture. Will you become a monthly Washington Stand partner? For just $1 a day ($31 a month), you can share in elevating truth through The Washington Stand!
Our work is being viewed now more than ever, but with your continued partnership we can reach even more people with biblical truth!
BECOME A MONTHLY PARTNER
The collapse of mainstream media did not happen overnight. In 2022, when Katherine Maher was the CEO of Wikipedia, she said this during a TED Talk:
"...our reverence for the truth might be a distraction that is getting in the way of finding common ground and getting things done... I'm certain that the truth exists for you. And probably for the person sitting next to you. But this may not be the same truth"
Statements like these are exactly why The Washington Stand was created--to counter the lies of the mainstream media and voices of the culture with reverence for the truth, the absolute truth, of God's Word.
Thankfully, more people are waking up to the lies they've been fed, and they are turning to alternative sources of information. The internet is flush with competing voices, opinions, and claims--all jockeying for an audience.
In these confusing times, Americans need news they can trust. But more importantly, they need news rooted in the source of truth itself.
Believers have an enormous opportunity and a biblical duty to speak God's Word into our culture. We cannot afford to waste it!
"We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ" (2 Corinthians 10:5 ESV).
Will you partner with The Washington Stand monthly, and cut through the noise and distractions to reach more people with news from a biblical worldview?
