John,
Congressional Republicans are working hard to pass their budget that attacks critical human needs in order to pay for a renewal of Trump’s tax scam and his mass deportation policies.
This week, House Committees passed bills that attack access to higher education and gut the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, which is meant to protect everyday people from predatory banks and businesses.
Committees also passed budget bills that would increase handouts to Pentagon contractors, and boost funding for the Judiciary and Homeland Security Departments by hundreds of billions of dollars to greatly expand immigrant detention facilities as part of the Trump administration’s war against immigrant communities and our due process rights.
Next up, House Committees are hoping to vote on more than $1 trillion in cuts to Medicaid and SNAP nutrition benefits. But, thanks to our massive grassroots opposition, they may be having trouble cobbling together the needed votes.
House Leadership announced late Thursday that House Committees have been forced to delay votes on Medicaid and SNAP cuts and a renewal of their tax scam for billionaires and large corporations.1
We’re keeping the pressure on Congress, reminding them that the American people reject their fast-tracked budget that seeks to gut basic needs programs to pay for more tax breaks for the rich. Rush a donation today to power our campaign.

Make no mistake: The cuts to critical human needs are not meant to balance the budget or rein in federal spending. They are meant to pay for more tax handouts to billionaires and billion-dollar corporations, and to expand the Trump administration’s attacks on immigrant communities.
Republicans have incredibly narrow margins to pass this draconian budget, which puts tax cuts for billionaires ahead of the health care, nutrition, and education of everyday people.

They want to pass their budget quickly, before Memorial Day. We’re telling them that the American people oppose the fast-tracking of this cruel legislation―or any proposals that make it harder for families to meet their basic needs.
Thank you for powering our campaign to demand an economy that works for everyone, not just the wealthy few.
