Today, May 3, on this First Saturday honoring the Blessed Virgin Mary is also the feast of Mary, Queen of Poland. The last three Popes have visited the famous Shrine in Jasna Gora (“Bright Mountain”) in Poland. May the next Successor of Peter make a pilgrimage to pray before the miraculous icon that was said to have been painted by St. Luke the Evangelist.  

Now let us go forth, invoking our most compassionate mother of all and seek her “good counsel”. 

Day 3—Orthodox Bishops, Priests, and Deacons

As we continue our Solemn Novena to Our Lady of Good Counsel, we highlight another urgent need of the Church—for truly orthodox bishops, priests, and deacons to lead us. The spiritual damage that has been done by what John the Evangelist calls the “mercenary” shepherds who have “no concern for the sheep” (Jn 10:13) is very real and devastating to the overall mission of saving souls. 

We turn to Our Lady of Good Counsel and ask her not only to give a profound spirit of fidelity to the existing clergy—fidelity to Christ and to the doctrine and Tradition of the Church—but also to raise up new and vibrant vocations to the Sacrament of Holy Orders who may lead us along the narrow road to heaven.

Share this link with your family, friends and Catholic groups so that Our Lady, who is the living temple of the Holy Trinity, may guide them in their most pressing needs.

May Our Lady of Good Counsel, who is the Depositary of the secrets of the Most High, come to the aid of the Cardinals gathered in Rome to elect the Vicar of Christ.
