Hey -- I want to encourage you to take some time today to remember and honor the victims and survivors of the Pulse nightclub shooting. Too many of us in Colorado know firsthand the pain that this kind of tragedy leaves behind in a community for years and years to come. So we must continue standing in solidarity with Orlando, the 49 lives lost, and communities all across the nation who continue to be torn apart by gun violence. Not only does today mark four years since their lives were stolen from us too soon, but we are also observing this day of remembrance in the middle of Pride month -- all while during a historic push for racial justice. It cannot be said enough that the Black community, communities of color, and LGBTQIA+ people are disproportionately impacted by violence based on who they are. For too long, our institutions have failed to deliver justice for those citizens who most acutely feel the sting of congressional inaction. And while Trump and Mitch McConnell continue to make excuses and shirk their responsibility to the American people, we cannot give up. The fight for equality for all Americans is far from over -- but we will continue to make progress if we all work together. Momentum is on our side -- so I hope I can still count on you in this fight. We cannot stop until every person -- no matter what they look like or who they love -- no longer have to live in fear.
