Dear Neighbor,
I just wrapped up another productive work period, where I continued fighting to address some of the biggest issues facing our community and region, including the impact of President Trump’s new tariffs on local businesses, as well as the Tijuana River Valley pollution crisis.
Here are some of the highlights from the work I’ve been doing for you.

Fighting Back Against Tariffs |
|
Rep. Mike Levin Visits The Op Games
|
The Trump Administration’s tariffs are driving up families’ bills and destroying small businesses. I met with The Op Games, a toy manufacturing company based in Carlsbad, to hear how the Trump tariffs are hurting their business and forcing them to double the prices of the games they sell.
This is not unique to toys. Groceries, electronics, and car costs will all rise as a result of Trump’s tariffs. It’s consumers, not foreign countries, who pay the price. I’m doing everything I can to fight back against these erratic and reckless tariffs and calling on President Trump to lift them immediately.

Demanding Action on the Tijuana River Valley |
|
Since coming to Congress, solving the pollution crisis at the Tijuana River Valley has been one of my top priorities. This crisis has gone on for far too long, despite the $653 million dollars in federal funding my colleagues and I in the San Diego Democratic Congressional delegation secured to fix the problem. Progress was too slow under the first Trump Administration's policies, and it was too slow under the Biden Administration's policies.

Rep. Levin meets with EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin
|
On Earth Day, I met EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin at the border to tell him that we can’t wait any longer. We need to get shovels in the ground to finally fix this environmental crisis. I also spoke with him about protecting the funding Congress has already provided to address the problem.
I’m hopeful that we can come together in a bipartisan way to finally fix this for our region.

Protecting Public Access to San Onofre Beach for Decades to Come |

Rep. Mike Levin Celebrates the Lease Extension for San Onofre State Beach |
|
Last week, I celebrated the 25-year lease extension for San Onofre State Beach. For three years, I worked with the Navy and the State of California to broker an agreement to keep San Onofre open to the public. I may be biased, but I truly believe our Congressional district is home to the most beautiful beaches in the country. I’m glad all of us will be able to get outside and enjoy the beach for many years to come.

Celebrating Research Investments in Our Community |

Rep. Mike Levin Speaks at the Hubbs-SeaWorld Research Institute
|
I also had the honor of attending a land grant ceremony for the Hubbs-SeaWorld Research Institute in Carlsbad. The grant will allow for the expansion of the Institute’s Center of Excellence in Marine Aquaculture. Hubbs has been at the forefront of scientific innovation in the areas of food security, conservation, and the protection of endangered marine species. I’m excited that this will help them to continue that work right here in our region.
As a member of Congress who cares deeply about combating climate change and promoting sustainability, I look forward to future progress at Hubbs.
