I hope you were able to take a moment to acknowledge May Day yesterday. I’ve been a proud friend of the labor movement for as long as I can remember, because I’ve always believed one thing for sure: working-class Americans deserve their fair share.
But not everyone agrees with me, friend.
Donald Trump and House Republicans have declared a war on our working class, recklessly enabling the richest man in the world to cut federal jobs left and right while at the same time attacking unions and rolling back labor rights.
And I just won’t stand for that. As a member of the Commerce, Manufacturing, and Trade subcommittee, I’ve fought hard to protect the middle class and working people from the Trump administration. And as CBC Chair, I’ve worked to end the disproportionate unemployment gap that affects Black laborers.
Having a strong workforce can be the backbone of an even stronger economy— and that’s precisely what I’m working toward. But I can’t do it alone.
I’ll always keep up the fight for our working families.
