Eagle Forum of Alabama Holds the Line on Free Speech and Protection of Children
The war against the Alabama Vulnerable Child Compassion and Protection Act (VCAP) is officially over! On Wednesday, trans activists who sued to overturn this law withdrew their lawsuit. This comes a few months after the Department of Justice (DOJ) withdrew its support as well. The case has been dismissed.

“We are thrilled to share Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall’s announcement of yesterday’s historic legal victory following the dismissal of the lawsuit challenging VCAP.” EFA President Eunie Smith shared in a press release, “The plaintiffs, represented by major national legal organizations, abandoned their challenge after Alabama’s investigation uncovered crucial evidence that the so-called 'medical standards of care' were intentionally designed as a legal and political tool rather than a scientific guideline.”

In 2022, after the Alabama Vulnerable Child Compassion and Protection Act (VCAP) was signed into law, opponents of the bill sued the state to overturn the legislation. During this time, they received help from Biden’s Department of Justice (DOJ) to subpoena Eagle Forum of Alabama (EFA) twice for any documents or communications regarding their advocacy of the bill. The DOJ was smacked down by a federal judge, effectively quashing the subpoenas for exceeding the scope of discovery and being “overly broad and unduly burdensome.” The plaintiffs withdrew their case afterward and were compelled to pay EFA’s attorney fees. Now, the case against the law itself has been dismissed.

“We uncovered the truth. We exposed the scandal. We won. Alabama led the way, and now all families are safer for it,” stated Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall.

“The Biden administration’s weaponization of the Department of Justice against Americans is over,” Eagle Forum President Kris Ullman stated. “We applaud Eagle Forum of Alabama and Attorney General Steve Marshall for holding the line on free speech and protecting the children of Alabama from the devastating harms of transgender ideology.”
