Dear John, I have a lot I want to tell you about regarding my work in Washington and how I’m delivering for Ohioans. Keep scrolling for more. House Passes My Poison Prevention Bill This week, the House passed the Youth Poisoning Prevention Act, a bill I led after hearing the tragic story of Kristine Jonsson, a young Hilliard resident who passed away in 2020 after accessing a deadly amount of sodium nitrate. This bill can prevent tragedies and keep families together, and I was proud to be a leader on it. Preventing a Tax Hike on Ohioans Americans are facing the biggest tax hike in American history if Congress doesn’t extend the 2017 tax cuts signed into law by President Trump. Right now, my colleagues and I are working to ensure that you don’t see your tax bill increase next year. I joined 10TV to talk about this, click here or on the image below to watch my interview. | Here are some reasons why Republicans in Congress want to extend your tax cuts: The bottom line is this: hardworking Ohio families do not need a tax hike. Other Legislative Updates: This week, I introduced a new piece of legislation to extend tax credits that help our biofuel industry thrive and support American energy dominance. Biodiesel is a homegrown resource that can support our long-term energy independence and support farmers, producers, and energy workers right here in Ohio. Learn more about the bill here. Also, this week, I joined a bipartisan group of colleagues in the House to introduce the Building Advanced Semiconductors Investment Credit (BASIC) Act to increase and extend the advanced manufacturing investment credit. Bringing semiconductor manufacturing to the United States is both a critical national security priority and massive economic opportunity for the next generation of American workers. Learn more about the bill here. Recently, I reintroduced bipartisan legislation with Rep. Danny K. Davis (D-Illinois) called the EITC for Older Workers Act. The bipartisan bill would eliminate the age cap for workers to qualify for the earned-income tax credit (EITC). Certain Americans should not be prevented from accessing critical tax provisions because of their age. Learn more about the bill here.
