Bad news out of Florida today, John:

Extremist lawmakers in Florida just voted to make it nearly impossible for citizens to put constitutional amendments on the ballot — directly taking power away from ordinary people.

This bill adds burdensome costs on those seeking to collect signatures — from cumbersome ID requirements to undue fees, unnecessarily short deadlines, and strict regulations geared toward preventing grassroots efforts to reform the state constitution. And if someone makes a mistake, this legislation would subject them to steep fines and even time in prison. Now, it’s on its way to Gov. Ron DeSantis’ desk, where he’s expected to sign it into law.

Let’s be clear: This bill is designed to silence people’s voices. Anti-democracy attacks are getting more common and more brazen across the country. It’s on people like us to fight back by doing what we do best: Organizing.

We need generous supporters to fund our people-powered work at All On The Line. Rush in a gift today, and let’s make sure that attacks on our democracy like this one don’t go unchallenged. → [link removed]
