Dear SPUC supporter,
Last month, Livia Tossici-Bolt—a brave, principled woman, and member of SPUC’s Bournemouth branch—was fined £20,000 by a British court.

Her crime?

She stood quietly near an abortion facility with a sign that read:

“Here to talk, if you want to.”

That offer of help is now illegal in Britain.

“Buffer zones” are in force across the UK and offering women much-needed support has been made a criminal offence.

A growing number of pro-lifers have been arrested and punished by the cruel enforcement of this unjust law.

Adam Smith-Connor, an army veteran, was recently brought before the same Bournemouth judge.

His offence?

Silent prayer for his own son, Jacob, who was killed by abortion more than twenty years ago.

For that silent act of love, Adam was convicted, given a two-year conditional discharge, and ordered to pay £9,000 in legal costs.

This is the face of British justice today.

But one verdict is certainly beyond doubt: the British political class is guilty of waging a daily campaign of violence against unborn babies.

And it’s time we put a stop to it.

Human suffering arising from abortion and assisted suicide doesn't deter the advocates of the culture of death.

An innocent baby never seeing the light of day, a loving grandmother being terminated as if she were a burden, a father grieving a child he never got to hold: these human stories leave their hearts cold.

But there is one emotion that they feel: the advocates of the culture of death are afraid.

They are afraid because they are losing ground – and they know it.

The overturning of Roe v Wade shook them to the core. They thought their abortion regime was permanent…and then it started to fall apart.

Since then, they haven’t had a moment’s peace.

And the political earthquakes have kept on coming.

The British government was left reeling after US Vice President JD Vance, delivered a scathing rebuke at a security conference attended by top European leaders.

He spoke out in defence of Adam Smith-Connor and condemned new Scottish legislation that threatens to prosecute people for praying in their own homes.

Vance warned that “the basic liberties of religious Britons” are now in the “crosshairs” of the state and pointed out that Scottish guidance urges citizens to report their neighbours if they hold “incorrect” views.
Last October I stood alongside supporters in a peaceful demonstration at Westminster against the imposition of buffer zones around abortion facilities in England and Wales. The month before our team held a similar demonstration outside Holyrood.
We know that laws like this are leading us in the direction of a police state.

But there are signs that the people are beginning to wake up.

Public trust in politicians has reached rock bottom.

Across Britain, men and women are appalled by the incompetence, cowardice, and corruption of those in power.

And as confidence in the political class collapses, so too does support for their destructive agenda.

We could be on the brink of a sea change in attitudes towards abortion.

But this will only happen if we make it happen.

We can’t let this opportunity pass us by.

SPUC knows that there are two crucial aspects to this fight:
1. We must mobilise all existing pro-life support and direct it towards maximum impact on our politicians
2. We must go out and change the hearts and minds of our fellow citizens to build new pro-life support. We must share the truth about human life and expose the evil of abortion and euthanasia.

SPUC fights on both these fronts.

We change the votes of politicians through:
* Mass lobbying of MPs
* Targeted petitions in key constituencies
* Direct one-on-one meetings with politicians in Westminster, Holyrood, Cardiff, and Stormont
* Hosting parliamentary events with top academics who reveal the truth that the death lobby hides
* Providing high quality polling data which makes public opinion clear
* Developing strong relationships with politicians with pro-life principles.

We change public opinion by:
* Raising up a new pro-life generation through our acclaimed youth conferences
* Educating young people in schools and colleges
* Holding acts of public witness which spread the truth
* Organising conferences for academics and the general public
* Mass leafleting of tens of thousands of homes nationwide
* Running mass advertising and social media campaigns
* Building and maintaining branches to spread the pro-life message in local communities.

This is the core work of SPUC. This is what we do day in and day out.

But at this dangerous period for innocent life in Britain we must urgently do more.

This spring I need your help to stop the imminent hijacking of the Crime and Policing Bill.

If we don’t succeed the abortion lobby will use this Bill as a vehicle for radically expanding abortion provision and they will kill many more babies in the years ahead.

Your donation could be the difference between life and death for hundreds of thousands of innocent babies.

Here are the three projects I need your urgent help to fund:
1. £20,000 for a new nationwide poll – this will show vote-hungry politicians that the public is overwhelmingly against more radical abortion laws
2. £10,000 for targeted petition campaigns – this will show MPs in key constituencies that voting against life will cost them their careers
3. £30,000 to fund a new branch development officer – we want a branch to cover every constituency so that no MP will ever be ignorant of the value of every human life.

And while I lead my team against this new abortion threat, we are still fully engaged in our historic fight against the Leadbeater Assisted Suicide Bill, which could come to a vote as early as 16 May or as late as mid-June.

If this Bill passes, it will legalise the state-sanctioned killing of the terminally ill and will open the way for even more radical laws.

I have already authorised my team to carry out the following actions during the final weeks before the vote:
* A laser-focused campaign against pro-suicide MPs with slim majorities (£5k)
* A hard-hitting media offensive in the publications most read by MPs (£20k)
* A final round of “Life Is Worth Living” rallies in key constituencies (£5k)

The work is already being done – but I now need to pay the bills.

We know that in life, what we can do—and what we can’t do —often comes down to money.

The more money we have, the more we can do.

It’s often as simple as that.

But we also know that some things are worth far more than money: truth, justice, integrity and love.

When the history of the pro-life movement is written, it will be the tale of those who stood firm when others faltered, who spoke the truth when others remained silent, and who gave what they had, to defend those who could give nothing in return.

It will be the story of ordinary men and women who were moved by great love.

[Insert name], it will be the story of SPUC supporters like YOU.

Thank you for your love for the vulnerable.

Thank you for your courage.

Thank you for standing with us – and with every innocent person in danger of death.

Yours in this fight,
John Deighan
Chief Executive
P.S. What matters most about a gift is not its size, but the love with which it is given. Whatever you are able to give, please know it is received with deep gratitude—and put straight to work defending the most vulnerable.

“Truly I tell you, this poor widow has put in more than all the others.” (Mark 12:43)
