Today, I led a coalition of my colleagues in the Senate to demand Donald Trump investigate Elon Musk and the allegations that he has used his government role to improperly advance his personal business interests abroad.

Recent reporting uncovered a shocking pattern. Musk allegedly leveraged high-level access to U.S. trade policy to pressure foreign governments — including India, South Africa, Bangladesh, Vietnam, Pakistan, and Lesotho — into granting favorable treatment to his satellite internet provider Starlink in apparent exchange for U.S. policy concessions.

Folks — if Elon Musk used his extraordinary level of access and power in the White House for his own private business ventures — it would constitute a serious violation of federal ethics laws and a profound breach of public trust.

My Democratic colleagues and I will continue to use every resource and platform available to us to get to the bottom of this and demand accountability from the Trump administration.

I strongly urge my friends on the other side of the aisle to use their voices as well during this truly unprecedented time in Washington. We must all stand up, speak out, and fight back.
