ACLU Supporter, in the first 100 days of Donald Trump's second term, we've seen some of the most extreme attacks on our freedom of speech in history.

• Mohsen Mahdawi: detained while at his citizenship interview after he'd just signed a pledge to defend our Constitution.
• Rümeysa Öztürk: abducted off the street by ICE officers and denied medical care for the asthma attacks she suffered in custody.
• Dr. Badar Khan Suri: snatched while returning home from breaking his Ramadan fast and falsely told his visa was being revoked.
• Mahmoud Khalil: taken from his New York residence in the middle of the night by plainclothes ICE officers, sent to Louisiana and denied access to his wife, forced to miss the birth of his first son.

These stories are horrifying – stories of people ripped away from their families and loved ones, denied access to lawyers, shipped across the country in the middle of the night while the government threatens their immigration status in retaliation for lawful speech.

But here's the truth, ACLU Supporter: The ACLU and our affiliates are taking the Trump administration to court to protect these students and more – and we're winning.

• A federal judge ordered the Trump administration to release Mohsen Mahdawi this past week – the first order mandating the release of a student arrested by the Trump administration in retaliation for their speech.
• Another judge ruled that Rümeysa Öztürk's case must proceed in Vermont – one step closer to her being home in Massachusetts.
• The fight for Dr. Badar Khan Suri's rights and freedom continued yesterday, as our Virginia affiliate argued that his case remain in Virginia and he should be released from custody while his case continues.
• A judge in New Jersey found Mahmoud Khalil's case can move forward in federal court, getting us one step closer to bringing him home.
• Finally, when Trump started revoking thousands of other international students' visas without any word to those students' schools, ACLU affiliates went to court and won temporary restraining orders in states across the country – including New Hampshire, Minnesota, Montana, Oregon, Washington, Wisconsin, and Georgia – protecting these students and their constitutional right to due process and forcing the administration to restore the visas they'd already illegally revoked.

We'll be clear: Donald Trump's cruel actions have no basis in the law – and the courts agree. We will never allow him to attack our communities without facing the full strength of the ACLU.
