J Street

Friends,

For 61 days, the Netanyahu government has blocked all humanitarian aid from every entry point into Gaza: No food. No antibiotics. No fuel. No nutrition tablets. No childhood vaccines.

The impact is devastating: Women enduring C-sections without anesthesia. Parents scavenging through garbage to feed their kids. Disease spreading. Doctors running out of essential medications, surgeons operating without antibiotics.

The Netanyahu government claims to be “starving off” Hamas, but making supplies more scarce only strengthens those who control the remaining supply, while punishing the most vulnerable, endangering hostages further and fueling the anger Hamas uses to recruit.

Former Israeli security officials have warned that normalizing the use of starvation as a weapon of war is both a moral and strategic failure, and have urged Israel to lead extensive aid efforts. We agree.

That’s why we need your help: Right now, a letter is circulating in Congress calling for an urgent end to the siege and efforts to return to the ceasefire/hostage deal framework.

In the face of President Trump’s criminal indifference, we have to rally as many lawmakers as possible to show the leadership that our president won’t.

Friends: Can you sign our petition to Congress and contact your representative today?

Congress: Tell Netanyahu to Stop Blocking Humanitarian Aid
Add your name if you agree ✍️

Led by Representatives Salud Carbajal and Ami Bera, the letter makes clear that signers are alarmed by a blockade which is both “morally wrong and runs counter to the shared democratic values between our two countries.”

As well as detailing the impact on Palestinian civilians in depth, the letter also states that the blockade “is strategically counterproductive and will only hurt Israel’s international standing and long term security.”

“We echo the concerns expressed by hostage family members that the blockade of aid and electricity could worsen conditions for their loved ones who remain in Gaza who will also be forced to endure hunger, hazardous water sources, and potential disease outbreaks, on top of the already inhumane captivity they face at the hands of Hamas.”

Friends, this blockade is a searing violation of our values. Punishing families in Gaza does nothing to end this war nor free captives – and security experts warn it only strengthens Hamas’ influence and endangers hostages further.

Over the last months and weeks, courageous everyday Palestinians have taken to the streets in Gaza to protest Hamas – we need to support them in their bravery and lift up their voices, not exacerbate the humanitarian catastrophe they continue to endure.

Please add your name to our petition and contact your representative to voice support for this urgent letter. Take action now >>

With so many failing to meet this moment, it falls to us to stand up for what’s right and press our elected representatives to take action.

Yours in determination,

Lily Adelstein
