Friend, last month, a 19-year-old American citizen named Jose Hermosillo was held in detention for 10 days after being arrested by ICE. Thankfully his family was able to produce proof of citizenship before he was deported, and Jose is now back home.
But despite this potentially devastating mistake, the Trump administration is refusing to admit any fault, instead doubling down on their reckless deportation policies without a care for due process.
It’s important to us that we keep sharing these stories with you, because we have to remember that the Trump administration is playing with real people’s lives.
Jose Hermosillo, Kilmar Abrego Garcia, Mahmoud Khalil — They’re not just numbers. Their situations are not just minor mistakes. Their appalling experiences are a direct reflection of the lack of compassion, competency, and accountability in the White House.
If the government can arrest any US citizen or legal resident, suspend their due process and deport them — perhaps even to a prison labor camp in El Salvador — then nobody is safe.
Ilhan is doing everything in her power to move Congress to hold Trump and his administration accountable, but she urgently needs your support if we want to move the needle on this issue. We have to show that a vast majority of Americans are outraged by the Trump administration's actions.
