Notice of Public Meeting, Town of Edgerton, WY, Lead Service Line Replacement & Water Meter Pit Replacement Projects
The Town of Edgerton, Wyoming, will conduct a public meeting at 6:00 PM, local time, on May 19th, 2025, in the Edgerton Town Hall. The purpose of the meeting is to allow citizens to review and comment on the following project(s): Lead Service Line Replacement and Water Meter Pit Replacement.
The Town of Edgerton will be pursuing these projects to replace lead and galvanized water service lines requiring replacement in accordance with the EPA Lead and Copper Rule and replace meter pits well past their useful life. Construction will begin with identification of all unknown service lines, exposure of meter pits, and will finish with full replacement. The Lead Service Line Replacement project is necessary to prevent lead contamination in the town’s drinking water, which can cause damage to young children and fetuses including nervous system damage, learning disabilities, stunted growth, impaired hearing, and blood diseases.
At the meeting, the Town of Edgerton will present the preliminary design of the proposed projects and will discuss the estimated cost of the improvements and the plan for funding the improvements. A preliminary plan of improvements, cost estimates, and the funding plan can also be reviewed at 311 N Second Street, Edgerton, WY. Contact Laura Pierce-Crebs at (307) 437-6763.
Based on current cost estimates, the Town of Edgerton plans to borrow $700,000 for the Lead Service Line Replacement project and $400,000 for the meter pit replacement project from the Wyoming Drinking Water State Revolving Loan Fund administered by the Wyoming Office of State Lands and Investments.
Loan terms for Lead Service Line Replacement include a 0% interest rate and a 30-year loan duration. The Town of Edgerton is expected to have a 100% principal forgiveness fraction, meaning that the Town of Edgerton will be forgiven of 100% of the full loan, interest-free, upon completion of construction.
Loan terms for Meter Pit Replacement include a 2.5% interest rate and a 20-year loan duration. The Town of Edgerton is expected to have a 75% principal forgiveness fraction. The project will result in a rate increase of $2.50.
