In the midst of a pandemic, no one should be forced to choose between staying healthy and casting a vote — and the majority of voters agree. Despite what Donald Trump says, overwhelming evidence shows that vote-by-mail is safe and secure — with Seattle operating fully vote-by-mail elections for more than a decade. Every single voter in every state should have the option to vote by mail-in ballot — no excuses — during this pandemic. It’s the only way to safeguard our democracy and our nation’s health.

And in a time when we’re seeing blatant voter suppression against Black and brown communities in red states like Georgia, the need to stop the unnecessarily long lines and expand voting options is all the more clear. In such a consequential election for our nation, it’s especially important to make sure all voters’ voices are heard.
