Right now, qualified immunity shields police from accountability, prevents real justice, and undermines the constitutional rights of every person in this country.
In the face of overwhelming reports about police brutality and the excessive use of force, it is clear that there can be no justice without healing and accountability. But there can be no true accountability with qualified immunity.
It’s past time to end qualified immunity protections for law enforcement.
That’s why I introduced bipartisan legislation with Representative Justin Amash to finally end qualified immunity. Will you take a moment to add your name and voice your support for this vital legislation?
The disproportionate hurt and harm that has been done to Black folks and to Latinx communities was not inadvertent — it was precise. It was targeted. It was legislated. It was codified.
And so we must legislate to correct these injustices and transform every aspect of our criminal (in)justice system.
Thank you for making your voice heard. Together we will continue to fight to end systemic racism and systems of oppression.
In solidarity,
