We just received a critical ruling in our lawsuit to stop President Trump's mass deportations.
ACLU Supporter, we just won a major victory in our lawsuit to stop President Trump's mass deportations.
A federal court in southern Texas ruled the Trump administration's invocation of the Alien Enemies Act to conduct mass deportations of immigrants without due process is unlawful. The court blocked the administration from using it to deport anyone being held in the Southern District of Texas, which will prevent more people from being sent to CECOT, a prison in El Salvador notorious for torture.
Immigrants are, and always have been, an integral part of our country. And they, too, are protected by U.S. laws and the Constitution.
We still have a lot of work to do – but we will keep fighting to protect immigrants in every state from Trump's unlawful mass deportations.
