Happy May Day, John!

Today, I’m proud to honor workers and the rich, inspiring history of organized labor – and reaffirm my commitment to making life better for workers across New York City.

I learned from my parents that people have real power when we come together to stand up for what’s right. My mother was a public school guidance counselor and a proud union member, and my father began his career as a legal services lawyer who made sure people’s utilities didn’t get cut off.

I’ve spent my entire career fighting not only for better pay and decent working conditions, but for the dignity and respect that every human being deserves.

As a member of the City Council, I worked hand-in-hand with workers to win groundbreaking new laws – like a fair work week for fast-food and retail workers, and first-in-the-country minimum pay laws for Uber drivers and deliveristas.

As Comptroller, my office rebuilt the Bureau of Labor Law and won more than $8 million for workers who were cheated out of the wages they were owed.

John, as the next Mayor of New York City, I will continue the fight for good jobs, justice, and dignity for all New Yorkers. I am proud to be endorsed by unions including UAW Region 9A, PSC-CUNY, IATSE Local 161 – and I am proud to be the first candidate in this race to release a workers’ rights platform [[link removed]] .

My plan will make life better for workers by:

✅ Creating a new Mayor’s Office of Workers’ Rights to promote new protections for workers
✅ Protecting New Yorkers against unfair firings
✅ Fighting for a minimum wage increase
✅ Educating and empowering workers to know about their right to organize and join a union

John, New York is the greatest city in the world, in large part because of our long tradition of organized labor and worker activism. When I’m Mayor we’ll continue this – and deliver a safer, more affordable, and better-run city for all New Yorkers.

Thank you,

Brad
