100 Man Breakfasts and Lunches
Throughout our service area, our Head Start centers have hosted their 100 Man Breakfasts and Lunches. These events are a time for Head Start children to connect with positive male role models over a meal and an educational meeting. The men in attendance included the children's fathers and family members as well as firefighters, police officers, local businessmen, CMCA staff, and more.
We do these events each year because responsible and respectful interactions with male role models promote a child's physical well-being, help children to stretch their ideas, expand their horizons, and increase their ability to take initiative and demonstrate self-control. |

It's Never Too Late
Daniel had been without employment and homeless for nearly three decades, when he decided it was time for a change and took the bold step to enroll in our SkillUp workforce development program. Despite not having worked since 1998, Daniel worked with his SkillUp coach to practice his interview skills and was able to secure a job at a local gas station. More than just a paycheck, this job has given Daniel a renewed sense of purpose, structure, and belonging. His story is a testament to the power of perseverance and the opportunities that can arise when someone is given the chance - and support - to try again.

BRIDGE Program Funding Update
This year, our BRIDGE funding in Howard and Cooper County won't cover our expenses through the end of the calendar year. We are working to fill the gap with unrestricted funding sources, and we are currently $7,000 short. Your help could ensure we keep this program intact without jeopardizing the impact we have on children, families, and teachers. Please reach out if you would like to know more, or give today! |

We Need You
After a two week recess, Congress is back in Washington D.C. and set to begin working on their budget for fiscal year 2026 (October 1, 2025 - September 30, 2026). We anticipate seeing the proposed outline of this budget soon, and based on leaks to the media, we suspect we will need to advocate fiercely about the importance of our work. CMCA and other community action agencies have long had bipartisan support, and we are committed to maintaining good relationships with our representatives on both sides of the political spectrum. In the coming weeks and months, we will need support from you, our supporters sending letters to your representative, co-signing letters from CMCA, and more. If you are willing to support us through advocacy, please fill out this form!
