Happy Birthday, America
I hope everyone enjoyed family and friends last week as we celebrated America’s birthday.
For 243 years, Americans have worked to build a home where freedom can be enjoyed by all. To the heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice, to make this dream a reality, we are forever grateful. To the generations who will carry America into the future, we are forever hopeful. Last week we celebrated not only how far our nation has come, but also how far we will go. We are blessed to live in this country and I am thankful for those who keep it secure.

Increasing Investment in Small Businesses
With the help of fellow Senators Tammy Duckworth and Jim Risch, I announced the Investing in Main Street Act last week. The bill will increase investment in small businesses by permitting banks to invest up to 15 percent of their capital in Small Business Investment Companies (SBIC).
In the past 10 years, SBICs have invested $451 million dollars in 135 Hoosier businesses. Now, more investment dollars will flow into our small businesses and job opportunities will continue to grow. The Investing in Main Street Act will help keep our economy growing and thriving.
Remembering Eva Kor
Holocaust survivor and Hoosier, Eva Kor, sadly passed away on July 4th at the age of 85. As a survivor of Auschwitz concentration camp, she dedicated her life to teaching others invaluable lessons about her time within the camp and World War II. Eva Kor taught so many about the horrors of the Holocaust and, just as importantly, the power of love and forgiveness. Indiana and the world will miss this great American.
I encourage all Hoosiers to remember her extraordinary life and the impact she left on Indiana and the world.

Strong June Jobs Report
Friday’s jobs report brought good news for Hoosiers. Job growth and payrolls grew beyond expectations in the month of June. Nationally, we added 224,000 jobs in June nearly 60,000 more than expected and vital Hoosier industries, including healthcare, transportation, and construction, all saw significant jumps in their June payrolls.
I will continue supporting efforts to strengthen our economy and ensure Hoosier families are benefiting from this economic boom. Click here to learn more about the latest jobs report.
