No one should have to be without health care – not ever – and especially not during a pandemic

National Nurses United

The numbers are staggering.

Since COVID-19 shocked the economy, an estimated 27 million people have lost their employer-provided health insurance. And this number will only increase.

This crisis has exposed the fundamental flaws in our health care system: At the exact moment when people need health care the most, millions are losing their health insurance during a global pandemic because of our employer-based health care system. It’s immoral, and it’s time for radical change. We need Medicare for All.

How would COVID-19 be different under Medicare for All? What can we do in this key moment to organize for a better future?

Join our allies at Healthcare NOW, tomorrow June 12, at 9am PT/12pm ET for a live webinar with Medicare for All Congressional Caucus Co-Chairs, Reps. Pramila Jayapal and Debbie Dingell, as well as NNU President, Jean Ross, RN, to discuss COVID-19 and why we need Medicare for All now more than ever.

At the same time that the nation is erupting in thousands of protests against the continued injustice of police brutality, we know that racism itself is a public health crisis. We’ve seen the rampant racial disparities of this virus, due in no small part to who gets and doesn’t get health care in this country. While Medicare for All is by no means a panacea for the public health crisis of racism, it would ensure that underserved communities can get the testing and treatment they need.

This is a crisis, but it is also a chance to finally awaken our politicians and move beyond employer-based insurance to Medicare for All. History shows that big societal changes often happen in a crisis and, if we band together, we can build a better future.

We need to use this moment to fight for protections for working people, their families and their communities. We need Medicare for All. Get up to speed on the fight for single-payer health care in Congress and learn what you can do to help from two Medicare for All champions in Congress.

Hope to see you there,
