The House did its job. It's time for the Senate to get to work and Save Our Cars.


Washington Examiner (5/1/25) reports: "House lawmakers voted Thursday to reverse the Biden Environmental Protection Agency’s decision to grant California the power to ban the sale of gas-powered vehicles by 2035. In a 246-164 vote, representatives overturned California’s plan to transition away from gas-powered cars by 2035 and boost zero-emission vehicles. The EPA approved the plan in December 2024 through a waiver under the Clean Air Act...'Since arriving in Washington, I have fought to protect consumer freedom and allow American families to choose the vehicle that best fits their budget and needs,' said Rep. John Joyce (R-PA), who sponsored the resolution. 'The introduction of this resolution to overturn California’s ban on gas-powered vehicles is long overdue.'"

"The expansion of renewable power is hugely expensive, it increases the price of electricity, the poor spend a higher percentage of their incomes on power, and so the overall effect would be highly regressive. So much for 'environmental justice' as a purported concern of the environmental left."

Wall Street Journal (4/30/25) op-ed: "Life changed for Spaniards at noon on Monday. With the sun at its peak, the country’s largely solar-powered electrical grid shut down. Mere days before, Spain’s government had announced that its grid had for the first time run entirely on renewable power, with new records set almost daily for solar. Breathless declarations of victory flowed, in service of the government’s promise to phase out reliable nuclear power plants with many years of remaining service life. As in Germany, this promise is now the Spanish politicians’ nightmare....The greater the share of renewables vis-à-vis conventional power plants with synchronous turbines, the less inertia there is to cushion instantaneous load fluctuations in the grid. The system becomes increasingly fragile, with higher risk of failure. At the time of the disaster, Spain’s near-record percentage of solar-energy production was accompanied by a smaller amount of wind—neither of which are capable of stabilizing the system if needed...A modern society can’t function without an electricity grid. By continuously reducing inertia, Spain’s policymakers engineered a vulnerability."

Climate lawfare against American producers must end.


Bloomberg (5/1/25) reports: "The Trump administration sued Michigan, its Democratic governor and attorney general, trying to block the state from seeking damages in court from fossil fuel companies it says caused harm through climate change. The suit filed Wednesday in a US District Court in Michigan said the state’s anticipated lawsuit interferes with US policy on greenhouse gas regulation and is an 'extraordinary extraterritorial reach' that goes beyond Michigan’s authority. Michigan’s potential lawsuit would raise energy costs and disrupt the regulation of fossil fuel production, according to the complaint filed by lawyers with the US Department of Justice...Governor Gretchen Whitmer has been a proponent of clean energy and in 2023 signed legislation that her office said would make 'Michigan a national leader in the fight against climate change.'”

Just The News (4/30/25) reports: "Former President Joe Biden campaigned on a promise to “end fossil fuels,” and Democratic candidate Kamala Harris wasn’t planning to change the direction of U.S. energy if elected...For the past 100 days, oil, gas and coal companies have operated under a friendlier regulatory environment. However, experts warn economic headwinds may place some restraint on Trump’s plan to unleash American energy. It creates a paradoxical situation in which low energy costs, which are great for consumers, aren’t necessarily good for producers. Last month, after a couple of months of the Trump administration, the AEA produced a list of 50 actions that the Trump administration and Congressional Republicans had taken to unleash American energy since Jan. 20. On Tuesday, the AEA updated the list, which now includes 75 items. 'In its first 100 days, the Trump administration—working with Congressional Republicans—has launched an ambitious and transformative energy agenda. Through over 75 actions, including executive orders, regulatory reforms, and legislative victories, they have dismantled barriers to energy production and strengthened the position of the United States as the global energy leader,' Tom Pyle, president of the AEA, said in a press release.  Pyle said that the Trump administration will need to sustain this momentum in the coming months if he is to continue fulfilling the promises he made to voters. 'We are excited to continue monitoring this progress and commend the administration’s commitment to energy abundance,' Pyle said. "
