Stop State-Sanctioned Suicide from Passing in the NYS Senate

On Tuesday, April 29, the NYS Assembly passed physician-assisted suicide legislation. Make sure it doesn't pass in the Senate!

Senate Bill 138 would allow physicians to prescribe lethal doses of medication for the express purpose of ending a patient’s life. Lawmakers need to hear from their constituents if we hope to avoid yet another assault on human life here. Assisted suicide is dangerous for patients, caregivers, and vulnerable populations such as the elderly and people with disabilities. Suicide is not medical care.

Contact your NYS Senator today to voice your opposition to this dangerous and deadly practice! A phone call is one of the most effective ways to get our message heard—make yours count today.

NYS Budget Updates

At the time of sending this newsletter, the budget has yet to be passed. It is now a month overdue, having originally been scheduled for approval on April 1. Our sources indicate that a handshake agreement has been reached, but the official vote may not take place until next week.

The Educational Choice for Children Act (ECCA)

In the next few weeks, Congress will be deciding whether to enact the Educational Choice for Children Act (ECCA). If you haven't already, please contact your Congress member and urge them to support this act.

The ECCA will enable taxpayers to redirect a portion of their federal income taxes to increase educational scholarships – as opposed to automatically sending it to the IRS. The increase in scholarships will enable more families to choose Catholic schools as well as ease the tuition burden on all Catholic school families. Please contact your federal representatives to urge enactment of the ECCA.

Capitol Compass

In episode 45, Gillian chats with Bishop Michael Fisher of the Diocese of Buffalo. They discuss the 2025 Jubilee Year and its significance to the Catholic Church both globally and locally.
