We are going to get through the coronavirus outbreak together. If you are experiencing symptoms or are looking for more information, you can visit the website of the CDC or the Illinois Department of Health. We are closely monitoring the situation and its effects on the people of Illinois and our nation as we work together to keep our families and communities safe.
Our nation is experiencing a historic moment — the people are uniting to demand significant change to a racist, broken system. We are coming up on the most important election in living memory and we are facing off with the most hateful leader our country has ever seen. Trump would rather spit vitriol and spray peaceful protesters with tear gas than pretend to be a leader — Americans are dying at the hands of those who are meant to protect us. With Representatives Ocasio-Cortez and Takano I’m introducing a bill to ban the use of tear gas by federal and local law enforcement, almost 100 years after chemical weapons were banned in warfare. This bill is a great first step, but there is so much more to be done. One thing is clear — the system isn’t broken, it was built this way. Our diverse, grassroots movement will continue demanding justice. Together we will stand up to racism, empower marginalized communities, and ensure that we all have a seat at the table. ¡Sí se Puede!
