Last week was the official start of Pride Month, a time for us to celebrate our LGBTQ+ friends, family, and neighbors.

And this year, nearly 51 years after the Stonewall uprising gave birth to the modern LGBTQ+ rights movement, we find ourselves marching in the streets once again for equality and to end racial injustice.

As a member of the Congressional LGBTQ Equality Caucus, I am proud to have helped pass the Freedom from Discrimination in Credit Act (FDCA), which prohibits credit discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity.

And while I celebrate the great progress we’ve made as a country, we must recognize that we have so much more work to be done. In multiple states across the country, a person can be fired, evicted, or refused service because of their sexual or gender identity. This is wrong — and we need to work together to change it.

I hope you’ll take time this month to appreciate the sacrifice our great LGBTQ+ leaders have made, the work we’re doing today to build on their success, and the long road ahead of us.

Yours,

Josh
