On May 1, 1886, hundreds of thousands of workers across the country walked off their jobs to protest unjust working conditions and demand an eight-hour workday. They knew that with collective action and perseverance, they could make life better for people everywhere.

That’s why on May 1st we celebrate the anniversary of their efforts on what is known as May Day, or International Workers’ Day.

But the fight for workers’ rights is far from over, John.

Anti-union 'Right-to-Work' laws in other states are undercutting Western PA workers and our region's growth. And as corporate power continues to grow unchecked, union-busting will continue to be all too common.

Chris is fighting in Congress for every American's right to form and join a union. He knows we need to pass the PRO Act to give workers and unions a fighting chance, because unions lift up all workers and strengthen our democracy.

The PRO Act would make it easier for workers to form unions and engage in collective bargaining, impose stronger penalties for companies that violate workers' rights to organize, repeal "right-to-work" laws that weaken unions, and so much more.
