Dear Friend,
What an election. What a journey. What a movement.
Thanks to your incredible support—and the collective effort of countless voters, volunteers, and advocates across the country—the Green Party of Canada is returning to Parliament with Elizabeth May re-elected in Saanich–Gulf Islands. She is one of the only two remaining party leaders heading back to Parliament! This is a powerful step forward in an election that posed tremendous challenges, particularly for smaller parties. We have much to be proud of, and we are so grateful for your commitment.
This election was also filled with moments of loss and reflection. While we are deeply saddened that Mike Morrice will not be returning as an MP, his dedication to the Green Party and to the people of Kitchener Centre remains unwavering. Mike’s leadership, compassion, and advocacy for vulnerable communities have had an enduring impact, and we are grateful for his tireless work. Although he lost his seat this time, his contributions to the party are invaluable, and we look forward to continuing to work alongside him in the future.
Jonathan Pedneault, our co-leader, has also made the difficult decision to step down from his role. Jonathan’s fresh perspective and bold ideas have energized our movement, and his commitment to a better future has inspired many. We will miss his leadership, but we respect his decision and know that he will continue to make a difference in other ways.
In an election where smaller parties were hit hard, we faced significant hurdles. The political landscape was divisive, and our path was never easy. Yet, Elizabeth’s victory stands as a beacon of hope. Her re-election proves that Canadians are still hungry for change, for a politics that is rooted in integrity, action, and a vision for a sustainable future. The work that Elizabeth has done, and continues to do, is a testament to the perseverance and strength of our party.
Our campaign also saw an outpouring of support in other ways. We raised close to $1 million in just 36 days, allowing us to amplify our message of bold change to millions of Canadians. Your efforts—whether knocking on doors, volunteering your time, or contributing financially—have helped us make an impact that goes beyond the ballot box. While we didn’t achieve all our goals, the momentum we’ve built will propel us forward.
This campaign may not have ended as we hoped, but it has sparked something that cannot be extinguished. It has reminded us of the power of community, of hope, and of standing up for what is right. Jonathan, Mike, Elizabeth, and all of our candidates have paved the way for the work we’ll continue to do, and we remain resolute in our commitment to a better, greener, and more just future.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for everything you’ve done. We couldn’t have come this far without you. Now, let’s reflect, take a moment to honour all we’ve accomplished, and then roll up our sleeves—because the work is far from over.
With gratitude and determination,
The Green Party of Canada’s team
