Have you ever used a ballot drop box, requested an absentee ballot over the phone, or delivered a ballot for a relative or neighbor? I know I have, and I'm guessing many of you have too.
This Friday, May 2 , MCV will be testifying at the State House on a regressive bill that puts unnecessary and harmful limits on Absentee Voting. This bill will make it harder to vote for people who rely on Absentee Voting, especially older Mainers, people with disabilities, and students.

Making it harder for people to vote isn't what Mainers stand for.

If defeated, this bill will go to voters in the fall as a ballot initiative. We need your help today to get lawmakers to reject this bill, so Mainers can put the issue to rest this November.

Key provisions in this bill include:
* Eliminating ongoing absentee ballots, a key resource for Maine seniors and Mainers with disabilities.
* Reducing the time period for early absentee voting.
* Preventing absentee voters from allowing a family member or friend to drop off their ballot.
* Limiting the number of secure ballot drop boxes a town may offer.
* Prohibiting towns from including return postage on absentee ballots, even if local taxpayers vote to fund it.
* And, creating one of the strictest voter identification laws in the country.
