Florida Gov. Signs Bill to Pave the Way for Electric Vehicles ([link removed] )

AEE reacted to Governor Ron DeSantis signing into law SB 7018, a bill that directs the Florida Department of Transportation, in consultation with the Florida Public Service Commission, Office of Energy, and relevant stakeholders, to develop a plan for electric vehicle infrastructure in Florida. “We applaud the Governor’s leadership and vision in sending a strong signal that Florida supports the growing market for electric vehicles in the state,” said Dylan Reed, Director with Advanced Energy Economy. “AEE also thanks the bill sponsors, Senator Tom Lee and Representative Blaise Ingoglia, for carrying this important legislation across the finish line.” Click here to continue reading the press release> ([link removed] )

A Supply Chain is Growing for Electric Transportation. Here’s What It Could Do For One State. ([link removed] )

Recently, the United States experienced a shortage of essential medical supplies needed to treat an influx of patients with COVID-19, including respirators, gloves, face shields, gowns, and hand sanitizer – a shortage that drew national attention to the subject of supply chains. Interconnected, global supply chains can present challenges, but they also present opportunities for companies to scale their businesses by tapping into the global marketplace. That is especially true for markets that are on the rise, like the one for electric vehicles (EVs) and supporting charging infrastructure. The emerging supply chain for these products offers the prospect of business and job growth that can be seen on the local level in places with strength in the required skill sets. Across the country and around the world, consumers, municipalities, and private-sector companies are turning to electric vehicles (EVs) as their primary mode of transportation, spurring significant potential for growth in the supply chain for EVs and charging equipment. This webinar will draw on AEE’s recent report, Electric Transportation Supply Chain in Pennsylvania, prepared by BW Research Partnership, which finds a robust supply chain in formation in the state. The report also finds that more than 350 Pennsylvania firms, many of them in industries and geographies that have seen declines in recent years, could transition to serving the supply chain for electric vehicles. As Pennsylvania, like many other states, considers economic recovery strategies following the COVID-19 public health crisis, the opportunity to capitalize on electric transportation growth deserves attention from policymakers. Our panel of industry experts will provide their perspectives on this opportunity for the Keystone State and look at how this could play out in other states.
