Dear John,
Recent News
I hope everyone had a very happy and restful Easter Break! After several months of spending most of my time in Washington, we gaveled out, and Congress went on a two-week district work period. During this time, I traveled across the district and spent some much-needed time with my family.
While at home, I had the opportunity to visit five counties spanning from Dallas to Anderson. I visited with the Hillsboro Chamber, both the Ennis and Palestine Lions Club, stopped by Palestine High School, toured the Ellis County Children's Advocacy Center, and met with community and business leaders. I always enjoy meeting with folks in the district to hear about any issues we could address or help celebrate any victories they have received.

High-Speed Rail Update
It's over! The Trump Administration, Secretary Duffy, and the U.S. Department of Transportation rescinded the grant funding for Texas Central's High-Speed Rail Boondoggle. Through numerous conversations and collaboration with the Secretary, it became clear that we share a commitment to ensuring that projects like this do not misuse federal resources, and this is a result of those conversations.
This is the result of years of unwavering dedication from Texans who stood firm to protect our land, our communities, and the values we hold dear.
The end of the Texas Central High-Speed Rail wasn’t brought about by one person or one office. It was the outcome of steady, determined work by local leaders, concerned citizens, and countless Texans who never backed down. It was a privilege to be there when the final decision was made, but I was building on the foundation laid by those who came before me and those working alongside me.
I’m proud to have been part of the effort—but even more proud to recognize and thank the many hands that helped get us across the finish line.
So, thank you. Thank you for all of your hard work, dedication, and self sacrifice. Texas is great because of the people who live here and I am blessed to be one of them.
