Friend — Big news: Mohsen Mahdawi has been freed! Mohsen is one of the many pro-Palestine activists on college campuses who have been arrested by ICE for exercising their free speech and detained without due process.
While we are elated that Mohsen is free from ICE detention, there are still many others, like Mahmoud Khalil, who remain in detention and slated for deportation without ever committing a crime or violating their legal residency status.
The judge in this case clearly acknowledged that the Constitution’s First Amendment protects protesters like Mohsen and compared Trump’s crusade against students to the political witchhunts of the McCarthy era.
Now is the time to keep up the grassroots pressure and free all of those who have been wrongfully detained by ICE.
Keep speaking out in every way you can. The American people must make it clear that we will not stand for Trump’s authoritarianism.
