Dear John,

Just a few hours remain to become a Live Action Life Defender and receive a free “it is good that you exist” ball cap ([link removed] ) !

My name is Brittany, and I’m writing to you because I believe in Live Action’s mission of changing hearts and minds from pro-abortion to pro-life. My pro-life conviction has personal roots, and I’ve been given the opportunity to share my story with you.

Imagine hearing these words:

“We found a large brain mass. We are transferring you to a high-risk hospital by ambulance soon.”

I was then left alone to call my husband and share the news. For over ten years, I had lived with a lot of ignored and unexplained chronic pain. Now we had an answer. Except we didn’t know the extent of it. Oh, and I was pregnant.

Would I live or die? More importantly, would the baby I was carrying live or die?

As we lived in the hospital in the following days, my husband and I prayed a lot for our family and talked about what we had already endured as a couple. Brain surgery while pregnant? Just the icing on the crazy cake!

You see, we were no strangers to loss.

This pregnancy was my NINTH, after five previous losses. Our journey began with the loss of our first child, so every pregnancy thereafter carried a heavy weight.

Four of our babies were lost to miscarriage at home. We were able to weep and grieve together. We saw our babies whole, as small as 8 weeks old.

Between losses, we had two daughters and a son.

Our fifth loss was a hospital delivery, a stillborn baby girl. We still weep from such an experience. After her loss, we had firmly decided we were done with pregnancies and enjoyed our three kids on earth wholeheartedly.

By God’s providence, I found I was pregnant for the ninth time, years later. We found out Easter weekend after a brutal storm left a double rainbow in the sky.

We were nervous. No, we were terrified. I raced to the doctor to immediately get progesterone and vitamins. We prayed. We cried. We begged God to let us hold this baby. He heard our cries, and He did let us hold this baby. But not before the journey of a lifetime.

Spoiler alert: I survived the emergency craniotomy of that GIANT tumor. I lost my hearing. I lost some taste buds, amongst other things, but I lived.

When I woke from that surgery, the first thing I did was negotiate my medications. Morphine? No way. My baby can’t have that. You know how I recovered? Arnica Montana and ice packs. I told my husband, “This baby is getting every chance he possibly can.” The nurses knew every time I hit that button that I was calling for ice and nothing more.

Our son lived. We heard his heartbeat at home just one week after that surgery. I was 16 weeks pregnant, the same gestation I was with our stillborn daughter. It was not a coincidence; it was hope.

That pregnancy was absolutely beautiful, hopeful, and also complete agony. I had to surrender everything to Jesus because I had a lot of fears.

This ninth child, Callum Robert, was born just five months ago. He is perfectly healthy, handsome, sweet, and silly. He came into our family and immediately overwhelmed our hearts with joy. Our children met him shortly after his birth, and they were so in awe.

My oldest said, “I can’t believe he’s here.”

We sure can’t believe he’s here. He is a perfect miracle, weathering storms before he was even born. Worthy of every chance at life.

All babies are worthy of life and love, which is why I’m so grateful for Live Action’s work to help millions of people recognize this truth!

When I saw their “it is good that you exist” sweatshirt offer earlier this year, it convinced me on the spot. I wanted to donate for many reasons, but that message struck me deeply as the response needed both to reject abortion and to recognize every child as a pure gift.

I hope you will take advantage of the opportunity to receive a free hat with this same message by becoming a monthly donor to Live Action with a gift of $20.25 or more before midnight tonight. Use this link: give.liveaction.org/become-a-life-defender-2025 ([link removed] )

Thank you for listening to my story and for helping protect more precious babies like our Callum!

Love,

Brittany, Rob, Riley, Nolan, Hazel, and Callum Reyes
