If you want a masterclass in how a democracy limps toward fascism in $5,000 shoes and a red tie long enough to hang below Donald Trump’s d*k, look no further than Trump’s latest “interview” with ABC’s Terry Moran. Trump lies like humans breathe and MAGAs snort Kool-Aid. Yet, there was Moran, the physical embodiment of a human shrug, meekly accepting it like he was about to say “Vladimir, Stawp.. .”

Trump unleashed his usual allotment of verbal sewage: He claimed MS-13 is pouring across the border unchecked (lie), Biden wants open borders (lie) and Moran should be grateful—grateful!—for the privilege of interviewing America’s very own half-sentient goulash of meat-puppet & expired spray tan. Instead of fighting back, Moran seemed more concerned that he not scuff the emperor’s gold-plated jackboots.

This is how it happens. You put a game show host with a Pol Pot temperament and OJ’s ethics behind the Resolute Desk, and pair him with a journalist who seemed to livestream down his leg because the mean man might yell at him again. And Trump doesn’t just lie—he seeks to dominate these interactions, as winning and losing is all there is to this sad-sack of human bankruptcy. He snarls, scolds, expands like the Dilophosaurus that whacks Newman in Jurassic Park.

Trump turns every setting into a mob trial, while most of the press corps still acts like they’re covering Eisenhower’s golf swing. The media, especially those chained to corporate giants more interested in access than accountability, have internalized the idea that fact-checking in real time’s rude, challenging a demagogue is “bias.” This isn’t journalism—it’s masturbatory hagiography with a multi-watt broadcast signal.

This is a moment where I take a quick break to say there are still good reporters in corporate media. Those who don’t buckle to an Orban-esque Ork. But they dwindle by the day.

Ok, we continue. There were lies—MANY—but let’s just analyze the the capo di tutti capi of Trump’s deceit. Trump looked Moran in the face and said an innocent man, Kilmar Abrego Garcia—currently locked in a concentration camp in El Salvador—was a member of MS-13 because Garcia has MS-13 tattooed on his knuckles.
