Hi folks, it’s Rita. I want to share some updates, but before I do, IDP has an End-of-Month fundraising deadline tonight at midnight.

I’m proud to be a lifelong Iowan. I was born and raised in the Hawkeye State, and I spent my entire career teaching in small schools and working for our communities.

No pride exists in what the Trump Administration and his GOP followers in the Iowa state legislature and Governor’s office are doing.

Iowa Republicans are spending millions of taxpayer dollars on private school vouchers. Meanwhile, the Trump Administration is attempting to abolish the Department of Education, which would cut into our state’s education budget even more.

As a former public school teacher, I find this to be downright insulting. Our public schools need funding so that every Iowan child has a chance to succeed — especially in rural areas.

But Republicans are not acting to help children or working families. That’s why Elon Musk and DOGE have laid off hundreds of USDA jobs in Iowa. I own and operate a small family farm, and know firsthand how important Iowa’s agriculture and its farmers are to our economy and country.

So, what are Iowa Republicans in the state legislature doing if not helping our public schools and farmers? They’re flaming division and invoking a culture war.

The Iowa Democratic Party is rallying against dangerous and short-sighted Republican policy decisions. Thousands of people are using their voices to object to the GOP, and we’re here to make sure voters are ready to turn out at the ballot box next November.

That’s why I’m asking for your help before tonight’s important End-of-Month deadline. Will you chip in $25 to the Iowa Democratic Party today? Together, we can correct the disastrous policies we’re seeing and put Iowan families first.
