APRIL 2025
|
Dear Friend,
In the face of increasing intimidation, bullying, and threats from the Trump administration, Corporate Accountability, the people who make up the movement to challenge corporate power, and allied organizations that protect communities, defend the environment, and more, refuse to be silenced. When we see injustice, we will name it, take action, and continue to build towards a world that treats every single person with dignity and respect, no matter where they live, how much money they have, or the color of their skin.
Here's just one example. Eleven years ago on April 25, an unelected official -- appointed by the state through a racist 'emergency management' law -- allowed the switch of Flint’s water supply to the Flint River, which occurred without the proper corrosion control mechanisms. It didn’t take long for people in Flint to see that something was terribly wrong. But Veolia, the world’s largest private water corporation, told residents their water was safe despite internally acknowledging the potential for lead contamination -- meanwhile, the corporation chased other lucrative contracts with the city.
We won’t let this crisis be forgotten, and we will continue to support other communities around the globe facing water injustices.
There’s still so much to do to ensure justice for the people of Flint, and to ensure that communities and public officials know about the dangers of doing business with Veolia and other private water corporations. Will you donate today so we can take on these powerful forces? When you do, half of your gift will go towards powering our longtime partner Flint Rising’s fight for justice in Flint, and the other half will power our global campaign challenging corporate control of water.
Here are a few more ways you've made an impact this month:

BRINGING YOUR VOICE INTO WELLS FARGO'S SHAREHOLDERS' MEETING
|
Yesterday, Ann-Michelle Roberts, Corporate Accountability's Black Collective Program Director, spoke directly to shareholders and executives at Wells Fargo’s shareholders’ meeting. She was there to call out Wells Fargo's long track record of harm, especially to Black and Brown communities, and share our collective demands for accountability and transparency. Check out this short video of Ann-Michelle explaining why she spoke at the shareholders' meeting, and then support the Black Collective with a donation today because going toe-to-toe with the likes of Wells Fargo isn’t easy. We can only do it with your support.

RISING UP FOR MAY DAY STRONG
|
Across the country, working people are rising up and demanding stronger neighborhoods, safer communities, and better wages for all working families. On May 1 -- May Day, also known as International Workers’ Day -- people are rising again to stop the corporate and billionaire takeover of our freedoms. On April 5, millions of people like you showed up in the streets to say Hands Off! This May Day, we keep the fight going -- and make clear what we’re fighting for: a world where people, not profits, come first. Find an event near you and sign up!

Taking on corporate power WITH THE POP CORPS
|
At our April POP Corps meeting, we came together as a community to connect and ground ourselves in the moment before heading to the Rise for Freedom training on how to talk to people you disagree with. POP Corps members walked away with tools for having tough conversations and even picked up some outreach tips from our lead organizer Med on using one-on-one meetings as an organizing tool. The POP Corps unites people to: challenge corporate control of government, stand with communities harmed by corporate abuse, and mobilize networks for strategic action. Join the POP Corps today to get plugged into our network -- together we’ll take action and build people power to stop corporate abuse! As a member, you'll be invited to our monthly action and community-building meetings. And members have an exclusive online channel to stay connected between meetings, so they're the first to know about urgent actions. It’s time to POP the corporate bubble and put people first.

Corporate Accountability stops transnational corporations from devastating democracy, trampling human rights, and destroying our planet. We are building a world rooted in justice where corporations answer to people, not the other way around -- a world where every person has access to clean water, healthy food, a safe place to live, and the opportunity to reach their full human potential.
