New Implementation Guide for Indiana’s Extreme Risk Protection Order Law
The Johns Hopkins Center for Gun Violence Solutions has released an important new resource, Indiana’s Jake Laird Law Implementation Guide [[link removed]] . Our comprehensive new guide is designed for law enforcement officers, attorneys, judges, mental & behavioral health professionals, public health practitioners, suicide prevention and gun violence prevention advocates, and others to understand key concepts of Indiana's Jake Laird Law.
The Jake Laird Law is Indiana’s version of the Extreme Risk Protection Order law also known as a “red flag” law. The law’s intent is to temporarily separate someone who is a physical danger to themselves and/or others from the most lethal means at their disposal: firearms.
