Dear friend,
For over 30 years, the Human Rights Watch Film Festival has highlighted the experiences of courageous individuals who have overcome enormous odds to create change. This year, we are thrilled to join the Festival as a presenting partner on two premieres that are critical in this time.
Belly of the Beast lays bare the inequalities and systemic racism that we find in our country as it investigates illegal, involuntary sterilizations in the U.S. prison system. The documentary follows a young woman and a lawyer in California over seven years as they help expose a series of statewide crimes, from inadequate health care to sexual assault to sterilizations, primarily targeting incarcerated women of color. Reserve your ticket and watch it online tonight at 6:30 PM ET, followed by a live Q&A with filmmaker Erika Cohn and others at 8 PM ET.
The 8th tells the story of Irish women and their fight to overturn one of the most restrictive abortion bans in the world. As reproductive rights continue to be threatened in the United States and beyond, this all-too-relevant film showcases the power of a groundswell moment, and the inspiring activists who refuse to back down. The 8th premieres Friday, June 19 at 5:20 PM ET, followed by a live Q&A with Irish activist Andrea Horan and the filmmakers at 7 PM ET. Reserve your ticket now.
And just in time for the Human Rights Watch Film Festival's opening night, the Center is happy to offer a $1 discount off any tickets with code "HRWPARTNER20."

We believe these are important films that should be seen, shared and discussed. We hope you'll join us in doing so.
In solidarity,
