My parents raised me to believe that with hard work, perseverance, and by caring for others, anything was possible. That belief led me to attend medical school, and eventually, to become a doctor in Adams County.

I was proud to give back to the community that raised me, but I quickly realized that families were struggling with issues far beyond what I could address. So, I took my fight to the state legislature and then to Congress where I fought to lower the cost of prescription drugs and protect healthcare.

As a doctor, I know how important access to affordable healthcare is. In Adams County, 65% of my patients' families were on Medicaid – but still struggling to make ends meet. That’s why I worked to allow Medicare to negotiate lower prices, took on Big Pharma, and helped pass a first-in-the-nation cap on the price of insulin.

As a doctor, I know how medical issues can intersect with all parts of life. When families are worried about the rising costs of living, it can negatively impact their health. That’s why I worked to expand the Child Tax Credit, protect renters from evictions, and increase family and sick leave.

And as a doctor, I know that when politicians like Gabe Evans vote to cut funding for Medicaid, the effects will be devastating for millions of people. That’s why I’m running to win back Colorado’s 8th District and finish the work I started.
