Good morning Young Democrats:

Our internet vote is open now! Pursuant with CYD Bylaws ([link removed]) , the CYD State Leadership Committee is now conducting an internet vote to consider CYD endorsements for California Democratic Party (CADEM) Statewide Officers and Regional Directors ([link removed]) .

This internet vote is open now, April 30, 2025, at 10:00 AM and will close Saturday, May 10, 2025, at 11:59 PM.

Per CYD Bylaws ([link removed]) , eligible voters are: all CYD Statewide Officers and CYD Regional Directors; CYD’s Immediate Past-State President; the President of each duly chartered chapter; the CCD President; the CASHD President; any officer of YDA, CDA, or HSDA residing in California who is a member of a chartered CYD chapter; any DNC Member who is a member of a chartered CYD chapter, any elected CDP Officer who is a member of a chartered CYD chapter; and the Chair of each duly chartered CYD Standing or Special Caucus.

Per recent bylaw amendments, chartered CYD Chapter Presidents and Caucus Chairs, or their duly appointed officer, only need to vote once in internet votes to cast their two Leadership Committee votes and no longer appoint a second voter. If the Chapter President or Caucus Chair wishes to appoint another officer to cast their organization’s votes, they must email CYD Secretary Emily Bonner at [email protected] (mailto:[email protected]?subject=Appointing%20Chapter%2FCaucus%20Officer%20to%20Vote&body=I%20appoint%20%5BFIRST%20and%20LAST%20NAME%5D%2C%20who%20is%20%5BChapter%2FCaucus%20OFFICER%20TITLE%5D%2C%20to%20cast%20%5BCHAPTER%20OR%20CAUCUS%20NAME%5D%20votes%20for%20the%20ongoing%20internet%20vote.) .

Please contact your Chapter President, Caucus Chair, CYD Political Director Maiya De La Rosa (mailto:[email protected]?subject=&body=) , or your CYD Regional Director if you have questions regarding any of the items being considered.

If 25% or more eligible voters vote to "Postpone" any item or write-in a recommended race/name/position to "Postpone" consideration of, that item shall not be considered until the next in person meeting.

All endorsement votes require a 2/3rds majority approval vote of those present and voting.

Using Social Media for Activism Training! This past election, MAGA extremists took advantage of social media to turnout voters. While walking doors and calling voters are effective ways to reach voters, Republicans are finding other ways to reach voters. Therefore, in addition to canvassing, Young Democrats need to get innovative in how we fight MAGA extremism, including using social media. TOMORROW, Thursday, May 1, 2025, at 6PM PST, Progressive Political YouTuber (800k+ YouTube subscribers) and Content Creator Jack Cocchiarella ([link removed]) is partnering up with the California Young Democrats to host a training ([link removed]) designed to help Young Democrats use social media for activism. CYD Award Nominations Due! At the 2025 Convention, CYD will be giving out our annual awards including CYD Persons of the Year, Chapters of the Year, Project of the Year, Officer of the Year, Mentor Award, and our Vanguard Award. Submit your nominations ASAP! ([link removed]) The last day to make nominations is Friday, May 2, 2025 at 11:59 PST.

LAST DAY - CYD CHAPTER & CAUCUS CHARTERING PAST DUE! All Young Democrats chapters and caucuses in California must be properly chartered with the California Young Democrats to be eligible to vote in CYD elections and meetings. CYD has extended the 2025 CYD Open Chartering Period one last time prior to our 2025 Convention to make sure all chapters and caucuses are able to fully participate. All returning and new chapters must submit their respective chartering information and documents for 2025 no later than Wednesday, April 30, 2025.
