Institutions, organizations can apply now for the Student Parent Support Initiative

Supporting the needs of pregnant and parenting students to achieve in higher education, institutions and organizations can apply now to receive funding from the Student Parent Support Initiative. A competitive grant program, administered in partnership with the Minnesota Department of Health, the initiative will fund services to support the academic goals, health and well-being of parenting students in Minnesota.

Eligible services include program development, start-up of on-campus childcare, student parent data collection and evaluation, scholarships for student parents, and other support services that provide access and eliminate barriers for parenting students.

Over $2.6 million is anticipated to be available in grant funding, with contracts to cover a two-year period. Eligible institutions and organizations are invited to apply by May 29.

This session covers some of the key conversations to have with your child before they start college. From understanding finances, to navigating a college campus, to making sure your child knows how to do their laundry, we will help you feel prepared to send your child to college!

According to a 2024 report, the state will need 18,000 new elementary school teachers and 14,000 high school teachers over the next decade.
