Dear SPUC supporter,
The story of David and Goliath is known by almost everyone — Christian or not.
A powerful warrior, with a mighty army behind him, and backed by the strongest financial interests in the world, confronted the men of Israel “and their hearts failed them” (1 Sam 17:11).
Against him stood a poor shepherd boy, barely into manhood. With no armour, no shield, no sword — only a sling, his courage, and his trust in God — David went into battle.
And David won.
Our fight today is like that.
The abortion industry is backed by the most powerful forces of our world: multinational corporations, the United Nations, the European Union, major political parties, the media, the universities, and the ideologues that dominate our public life.
And they are determined that more of our innocent babies should die.
This is the abortion Goliath.
Yet we are still fighting, still standing, still saving lives.
The truth is that our opponents are terrified of us.
Goliath doesn’t understand how David is still on the field.
By their calculations – based on money and raw power - abortion should have been decriminalised long ago. Assisted suicide should be a done deal. The law should have changed. The resistance should have crumbled.
But it hasn’t.
Because of you.

David beat Goliath — not because he was stronger, but because his cause was just. And throughout history, David keeps beating Goliath — because there are always men and women willing to stand up and fight for what is right.
That is what SPUC does: we fight for what is right, no matter the odds.
And right now, we are facing the two gravest threats to life in our history:
* The legalisation of assisted suicide
* The decriminalisation of abortion
If we lose these battles, the consequences will be horrific.
Hundreds of thousands of innocents made in God’s image will die.
That is why I must ask for your help to raise £60,000 to stop the new abortion lobby plot to hijack the Crime and Policing Bill.
Let me explain what I will do if I raise this money.

1. Nationwide polling and lobbying - £20,000
Votes are the lifeblood of politicians. Without them, they lose their seats - and their careers.
That’s why our grassroots lobbying works. When MPs realise their constituents oppose them, they have to listen.
No votes = no career.
Polling last year showed that only 16% of people support abortion decriminalisation, and just 9% of women support the murderous “pills-by-post” scheme.
But we need new up-to-date polling and lobbying resources to prove that voting for an abortion amendment to the Crime and Policing Bill will cost MPs their seats.
The recent Supreme Court judgment, which affirmed the simple truth that a man is a man, and a woman is a woman, was greeted with public euphoria.
For many politicians, this was a wake-up call: a clear sign that the public is no longer willing to tolerate their indulgence of ideological obsessions while urgent issues like housing, inflation, and healthcare are neglected.
Will you help us seize this moment — and send an unmistakable message to politicians that the British people have had enough of abortion extremism?

2. Local constituency petitions - £10,000
Even more powerful than national data and lobbying at Westminster is local pressure.
We’ve already shown one South London MP that SPUC has enough supporters to cost him his seat if he votes against us.
Now I want to roll out local petition drives in dozens of key constituencies — especially those with razor-thin majorities.
If we show MPs that the pro-life vote in their area is strong enough to change the result, they will be forced to think twice before voting for abortion amendments.
But time is short: we must start organising these petitions right away.
Will you help us deliver targeted, strategic pressure where it counts most?

3. A new Branch Development Officer for Wales - £30,000
SPUC is growing and getting stronger.
From offices in London, Glasgow, and Belfast, marching orders go out to a grassroots army numbering tens of thousands.
And now 60 branches are playing an invaluable local role.
SPUC is fighting hard in every corner of the UK.
All our branches are made up of ordinary men and women like you who give their time, energy, and resources to defend unborn babies.
No other pro-life organisation in Britain has a network like SPUC’s. And no abortion group could even dream of this level of popular support.
Our branches:
* coordinate mass-lobbying of MPs
* leaflet homes to bypass censorship and reach people directly
* organise public witness and local events
* recruit and train new supporters.
Each one of our branches is extraordinary.
One such extraordinary Branch, the SPUC Harrow Branch. I was recently down in Harrow to honour four long-standing members of the branch, Ian, Kathleen, Colleen and Pauline (pictured).
But right now, there are just three branch development officers building and supporting branches across the entire UK.
They are holding events and organising branches from Kent to the Western Isles, from Cornwall to Edinburgh, and from rural Ulster to the Yorkshire coast.
But two men and one woman just isn’t enough to cover such great distances effectively.
SPUC supporter
, I have a vision of a SPUC branch in every constituency — giving MPs no rest until the killing of babies stops.
But to have more branches, we need more development officers.
My next goal is to have an officer dedicated to accelerating growth in Wales.
This new officer won’t just have an extraordinary impact on the pro-life movement in Wales, it will free up existing officers to focus more time on England too.
Will you help us build a voice for unborn babies in every constituency in Britain?

These are my three URGENT goals right now:
* £20,000 for nationwide polling
* £10,000 for local petition campaigns
* £30,000 for a new branch officer in Wales
And, while confronting this new abortion danger we are still fighting with all our might against the Leadbeater Assisted Suicide Bill, which may come before Parliament as early as May 16^th or as late as the second half of June.
As I shared last week, I still need to raise £30,000 to cover the costs of keeping up the fight against the Leadbeater Bill in these final weeks.
This means SPUC must raise a total of £90k from this campaign to meet these imminent threats.

SPUC supporter, I’ve been in this movement for over thirty years, and I’ve seen many dangerous moments for life. But we have never faced anything like this double threat of assisted suicide AND radical abortion expansion.
If these laws pass, it will be the worst calamity for innocent life since the Abortion Act.
But we are not destined to lose this fight.
We have truth. We have courage. We have you.
Will you help David fight Goliath — and win again?

With deepest gratitude,
John Deighan
Chief Executive
P.S. It only took one stone to bring Goliath down — but David had to cast it. The donations of SPUC’s pro-life army will bring the Abortion Goliath down – but only if we make them.
Please support SPUC and cast your stone today.
