This past legislative session, I fought like hell to deliver real results for working Hoosiers — and we made serious progress. From standing up for public schools and labor rights to pushing back against overreach and corruption, I never stopped showing up, speaking out, and getting things done. But none of it would’ve been possible without your support. Here's a brief list of what I did on your behalf:
- HB 1280 extends the income tax exemption to all active members of each U.S. Uniformed Service Branch.
- HB 1518 prohibits state government entities from purchasing luxury vehicles using our tax dollars.
- HB 1677 (incorporated into HB 1014) makes serious or egregious cases of illegal dumping a misdemeanor – not just a ticket.
- Passed an amendment that prohibits sex offenders from working in roles where they have disciplinary power over minors or are expected to regularly touch minors.
- Passed an amendment to prohibit cops from avoiding giving someone their Miranda warning by using another person to conduct the questioning.
- Passed an amendment requiring accused domestic abusers to see a judge in-person for bail so the court can actually review the case and issue a No Contact Order, if necessary.
- Co-authored/co-sponsored House Bills 1004, 1118, 1131, 1143, 1208, 1232, 1471, 1558, 1687, and Senate Bills 141, 259, 281, and 420 that do everything from modernize eyewitness identification procedures to reigning in the costs of healthcare. Check out all the legislation I worked on here.
