Today, I’m pushing for a vote in the Senate that would take the blowtorch
out of Donald Trump’s hands and strip him of his “emergency” powers he’s
using to impose his reckless tariffs.

We all know the chaos Trump has already unleashed with his
across-the-board tariffs: A plummeting stock market, skyrocketing costs,
and mass chaos and confusion.

But here’s the thing: Congress has the power to stop this madness by
passing my bill today, before more damage is done. Trump has given himself
the power to circumvent Congress and declare these tariffs by declaring a
state of “emergency”. But Congress can take that power right back by
revoking Trump’s fake emergency authority.

That’s why I’m pushing a vote on my bipartisan resolution that would end
Trump’s fake emergency authority. I’m calling on every Republican in
Congress to stiffen their spines and answer one simple question: Will they
stop Trump’s sabotage of our economy? Or will they decide that their
entire job is to do nothing but bow down to Donald Trump?

[ [link removed] ]I’m fighting my heart out for American families, who are already
struggling to make ends meet. Will you chip in whatever you can to support
my fight in the Senate to get Republicans to join Democrats and stop
Trump’s tariff chaos?

So many people and small businesses are already feeling the economic pain
of Trump’s chaotic trade war. Companies like Adidas and Amazon are warning
that they’re planning to increase prices for consumers. Americans are
bracing to pay higher prices at the grocery store or face empty shelves
from supply chain disruptions. Farmers are facing devastating financial
losses as countries like China cancel orders of American farming products.
Predictions of a tariffs-induced recession as early as this summer are
looming.

Look, the American economy has taken blow after blow in recent years. I
remember what families went through after the 2008 housing crisis, and the
downward spiral of the recession that took us years to crawl out of. The
Covid-19 pandemic was devastating for so many small businesses and workers
in 2020.

But this crisis isn’t caused by a virus or a system-wide failure. It’s a
man-made crisis, caused by a single man in particular: Donald Trump. And
in our democracy with co-equal branches of government, we have the power
to stop this emergency before even more damage is done.

Trump thinks he can control our entire economy and the financial health of
millions of families with the erratic game he’s playing with these
tariffs. But that’s not how America works.

We still have the rule of law in this country. And Congress has the power
to end this madness right now. A few Republicans are already uneasy about
this self-inflicted trade war that’s already hurting American businesses,
families, and manufacturers. But we need more than a few Republicans to
stand up and revoke Trump’s fake emergency authority.

[ [link removed] ]I’m using every tool I can in the Senate to stop Trump’s dangerous and
harmful agenda. If, and only if, you’re able to, please pitch in
$28 or
anything you can today to strengthen our fight.

Thanks for being a part of this,

Elizabeth
