The annual Star of Texas Awards, hosted by the Public Safety Office every September, honor the bravery and sacrifice of peace officers, firefighters, and emergency first responders who are killed or seriously injured in the line of duty. Since its establishment in 2003, more than 734 individuals have been recognized for their service.
Nominations are currently being accepted for eligible individuals, including private citizens who assist first responders. The nomination form is accessible through the Star of Texas website.

Texas Crime Stoppers recently held a basic course training in San Marcos, Texas. The basic Crime Stoppers course provides 16 training hours fulfilling the training requirement for organization certification. The hours also count towards an individual's TCOLE and CPE credit. The course included topics on legal frameworks, board responsibilities, campus crime stoppers, tip taking best practices, annual reporting, certification requirements, fundraising and marketing.

The Texas Crime Stoppers Ambassador Program is a student leadership initiative designed for youth engaged in their local Crime Stoppers community.
Each ambassador is assigned a month to contribute an article for the Texas Crime Stoppers newsletter. Possible topics include campus program success stories, interviews with their Student Resource Officer or a board member, community involvement, as well as editorials on leadership, mentoring, or student motivation.
