Hi John,
We’re sure you’ve read enough headlines and received a ton of emails about all the things Trump has done in his first 100 days in office. It’s a whole lot of chaos, confusion, and incompetence —shocker.
Instead of giving that guy more attention, we wanted to spotlight some of the work Colorado Democrats have accomplished in the past 100 days that will improve lives here at home.
🩷 Governor Jared Polis signed SB 25-183 , which implements Amendment 79, enshrining reproductive freedom into our state constitution.
🏳️‍⚧️ Governor Polis signed into law legislation that will protect gender-affirming care so that transgender Coloradans and their families can receive the healthcare they need.
💯 Governor Jared Polis and Colorado Democrats passed a spending plan for the upcoming year that increases investments in the Department of Health Care Policy and Financing and increases funding for higher education, transportation, and public safety.
🗳️ Democrats passed the Colorado Voting Rights Act , strengthening our democracy against attacks by prohibiting discrimination in how elections are run, creating access to multilingual ballots in municipal elections, establishing the nation’s first-ever protections for LGBTQ+ voters, among other vital protections.
🧯 The Colorado Senate and House have passed HB25-1009 , which, if signed into law, would help mitigate fire risk by requiring the removal of dead or dry plants that increase wildfire risk.
👶 The Colorado Senate and House have passed SB25-004 , which, if signed into law, would address the high costs of childcare by establishing clear guidelines for deposits, applications, and waitlist fees, delivering tangible relief for working families.
🏡 The Colorado State House has passed HB25-1236 , which, if passed by the Colorado Senate and signed into law, would expand access to low-income housing and strengthen renter protections.
📖 Through the Colorado Universal Preschool program, Colorado now ranks third in the nation in terms of the number of four-year-olds enrolled in preschool. This is thanks to years of fighting for public education.
