Dear Friends,

I am writing to let you know of a special broadcast that will air tomorrow, June 11, 2020 at 4pm Mountain time, that I believe you should watch. I will be addressing dangerous legislation to defund, limit and tie the hands of law enforcement across this nation. Right here in Colorado, SB20-217 is rushing through the Colorado state legislature today. That bill will expose law enforcement officers to a risk of individual financial liability and impose many other obligations and restrictions. Similar laws are passing and being considered in the U.S. Congress and many other states and cities across the nation.

I am deeply concerned for the future of our nation in this present time. The death of George Floyd was horrible and wrong. Justice needs to be done in the courts of law for that crime, and we need to do all we can to prevent such incidents in the future. But many governmental bodies are now taking extreme positions that will actually endanger public safety. The City of Minneapolis voted to disband it's police department, and many other places are defunding and restricting police forces.

Tomorrow, I will sit down with Sheriff Jason Mikesell, our local Sheriff in Teller County, Colorado, to talk about SB20-217 and the dangers that it and similar laws will create not just for police officers, but for the millions of citizens who rely on law enforcement officers for a peaceful and safe society.
